Alan Hartman, one of Microsoft's veterans, has decided to leave the corporation. At the end of November, he will step down from his role as head of Xbox Game Studios and retire.
Hartman has worked with Microsoft for 36 years. He joined the corporation in 1988, becoming a multimedia specialist in the CD-ROM group. Later, he worked in studios such as Dreamworks Interactive and Digital Anvil, and in 2005, he became a leader at Turn 10 Studios, which is responsible for the Forza Motorsport series.
Hartman became the head of Xbox Game Studios just a year ago, succeeding Matt Booty, the current president of Xbox game content and studios.
After Hartman steps down, the role of head of Xbox Game Studios will pass to Craig Duncan, who currently leads Rare, known for Sea of Thieves. In turn, Joe Neate and Jim Horth, longtime members of the studio, will take the helm at Rare.
