In the first half of 2024, residents of the United Kingdom spent almost a third less on video games compared to the previous year. This information was shared by the UK Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA).

  • From January to June 2024, video game sales in the UK amounted to £348.6 million ($452 million);
  • Of this amount, £236.9 million ($307.17 million) came from digital sales. This is 23% less compared to the first half of 2023;
  • Sales of physical copies of games dropped by 40% to £111.7 million ($144.83 million);
  • The ERA believes that video game sales in the country decreased due to the absence of major releases. The association expects the situation to improve in the second half of the year.
