Gearbox Software demanded that the G2A digital store provide users with free protection against fraud.
Otherwise, the developer promised to terminate the agreement on the placement on G2A Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition — reissues of the shooter 2011.
Gearbox Software voiced claims to the site after users criticized the company’s decision to promote Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition on G2A.
“I changed my mind about doing a review on Bulletstorm and the rest of the Gearbox games,” wrote famous video blogger John “TotalBiscuit” Bain on Twitter, whose YouTube and Twitch channels have 2.5 million viewers subscribed to.
The reaction from the community was due to last year’s scandal with the tinyBuild studio. The latter accused the Polish site of not receiving $450 thousand due to the sale of keys obtained illegally by unscrupulous dealers.
Gearbox requires G2A:
- make the G2A Shield service free for users within 30 days;
- within 90 days, give certified developers and publishers the opportunity to search for and remove unlicensed keys to their products from the store’s database;
- restrict the activity of the accounts of non-certified sellers for 60 days;
- reform the payment system within 30 days so that license transactions take place without additional costs;
The items should start being executed before the launch of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition on Steam, which is scheduled for April 7.
“Gearbox Publishing will not support a store that does not fulfill these obligations,” the company said.
