Last week marked the beginning of the autumn sale on Steam, significantly altering the landscape of the platform's top-grossing products chart. Here's what we observed.
Cyberpunk 2077
Between November 26 and December 3, Counter-Strike 2 topped the overall Steam chart, pushing the previous leader, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, down to tenth place. Looking just at paid projects, the top spot was claimed by the portable PC, Steam Deck.
Just below that in the chart was Cyberpunk 2077. Over the week, it climbed from 64th to fourth place, thanks to a 55% discount. The expansion Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty also made it to the chart, at 20th place.
Other popular games like Baldur’s Gate 3 (which rose from 27th to seventh place), Red Dead Redemption 2 (which climbed from 91st to 11th), and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (which rose from 41st to 12th) also improved their chart positions thanks to the sale.
Additionally, the discounts helped games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Hogwarts Legacy, It Takes Two, Cities: Skylines, and many other titles reappear in the chart after a long absence. Notably, It Takes Two simultaneously set a new record for concurrent players on Steam, reaching 40,950 players.
Meanwhile, Farming Simulator 25 dropped from 11th to 35th place in the chart over the week, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 fell from sixth to 49th place.
