Black Ops 6 has topped the weekly chart of the best-selling physical games in the UK, according to GfK data. However, the game’s launch did not perform as well as the previous installment in the series.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
According to Christopher Dring, head of the GamesIndustry portal, the initial sales of Black Ops 6 were 10% lower than those of Modern Warfare III. This is primarily due to the decline in physical edition sales on Xbox, which was expected since the new release is included in the Game Pass subscription.
To support this, Dring notes that on the PlayStation 5, the new part of Call of Duty is selling at levels comparable to last year’s title.
It's worth noting that Modern Warfare III launched 25% worse than MWII in British retail. At that time, 72% of disc sales were on PlayStation 5, while Xbox accounted for 20%.
Another newcomer of the week, Sonic X Shadow Generations, recently released, rounds out the top three on the chart, with the majority of sales on PlayStation 5 and 29% on Nintendo Switch.
The physical edition of Alan Wake II, including the second expansion The Lake House, has appeared for sale and ranked 12th in the top chart.
