The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) could convince the British regulator to block the sale of Activision Blizzard to Microsoft. This was stated in an interview with CNBC by the head of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick.
Kotick said that a week and a half ago, FTC Chairman Lina Khan met with the heads of several antimonopoly agencies, including from the UK. He does not know what was discussed at the meeting, but believes that it could have been about a deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. Moreover, regulators are prohibited from discussing active investigations.
Shortly after the interview was released, an FTC representative denied the Cat’s accusations. He told the media that the Commission did not collude with either the British or any other regulator.
