Yesterday, former employees of Blackbird Interactive reported on social networks about mass layoffs. Shortly after that, studio representatives confirmed in a media commentary that they had indeed reduced the staff.

“This year has been incredibly difficult for the industry as a whole,” the developers said in a statement. “As an independent studio, Blackbird Interactive has always been a close-knit team. Our main task is to help the victims prepare for the next stage of their career.”

In total, 41 people were fired from Blackbird Interactive. In addition, the studio canceled several unannounced projects. According to studio representatives, layoffs and cancellations of games will not affect the development of titles already presented to the public, such as Homeworld 3 and Earthless.
