Game designer Hideki Kamiya has announced his imminent departure from PlatinumGames. He will leave the company on October 12.
Kamiya wrote on X (Twitter) that he made the decision after much thought and it was not easy for him. He was prompted to take such a step by “his own beliefs.” Nevertheless, the game designer believes that everything is for the best. He promised to continue to “create in the style of Hideki Kamii” and urged to follow him.
Kamiya is one of the founders of PlatinumGames. He led the development of Bayonetta, The Wonderful 101, Astral Chain and many other projects, and recently worked on a game codenamed Project G.G. Before PlatinumGames, Kamiya also worked at Capcom, where, in particular, he oversaw the creation of Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry.
