In August 2020, Ubisoft fired Ashraf Ismail, the creative director of Assassin’s Creed, amid a scandal: allegedly, the developer used his official position and, being married, had numerous affairs. But, as Axio s found out, Ismail soon got a job in the Montreal office of TiMi Studios, the “daughter” of Tencent.

According to Axios, Ismail has been cooperating with TiMi Studios since the opening of an office in Montreal in 2021. However, neither the company nor the developer himself publicly reported this. There is no mention of employment on Ismail’s LinkedIn either. Despite the fact that other former Ubisoft employees who also came to TiMi Studios have updated their profiles for a long time.
