Head of XBOX Asha Sharma at a recent employee meeting also addressed the overall state of Microsoft's gaming division, reports Windows Central.

Speaking to the employees, Sharma acknowledged that at the beginning of 2026, XBOX experienced declines in several key performance metrics. Specifically, they saw a drop in revenue, audience, and the amount of time gamers were spending in games. However, the situation has started to improve — at least for XBOX's own games.

“We are making the right decisions and reinvesting in the business. After hitting historic lows, we have returned to growth that exceeds previous figures by more than two to three times, and we expect this trend to continue,” Sharma said.

The Head of XBOX added that among new games, titles like Gears of War: E-Day and Minecraft Dungeons II have achieved good results. She is also pleased with the initial metrics of the upcoming World of Warcraft: Forever, which had its beta test in September.

According to Sharma, amidst all the changes, positive perception of the XBOX brand has increased by 30%.

Previously, to improve XBOX's situation, the division's management adjusted its business strategy and launched a major restructuring. As part of this restructuring, two waves of layoffs have already occurred, resulting in the departure of about 2,000 people from the XBOX teams.
