Ampere Analysis has prepared an overview of the console market for 2022. Among other things, she said that by December 31, the total sales of the PS5 reached 30 million devices, while the Xbox Series consoles sold much worse — 18.5 million devices.

Analysts expect that in the first half of 2023, the gap in sales of the PS5 and Xbox Series will become even larger. Since Sony has largely solved the problem with the shortage of its consoles, and Microsoft has not.

At the same time, Microsoft has increased its share in the console market from 25.5% to 27.3% over the year. Sony’s share decreased from 46.3% to 45%, Nintendo‘s share decreased from 28.2% to 27.7%. In total, gamers spent $56.2 billion on consoles, hardware for them, console games and services in 2022. This is 7.8% less than a year earlier.
