In 2022, the British gaming market earned £5.38 billion. According to analysts from Ampere Analysis, this is 1.6% less compared to the previous year. The last time analysts recorded a drop in the local market was in 2012.

Ampere Analysis explained the situation for a number of reasons at once. Among them: a return to indicators before the COVID-19 pandemic, economic problems in the country, numerous game transfers, difficulties with console shipments and an updated Apple privacy policy.

Revenue in the mobile games segment fell the most — by 3% to £1.66 billion. Revenue in the PC games segment decreased by 1.2% to £815 million, and revenue in the console games segment decreased by 1% to £2.89 million.
