Product Analyst at MY.GAMES, Lev Kobeleva, and Senior Game Designer at Sad Cat Studios, Alexander Barabanov, have introduced SteamTrender — an analytical service that allows users to explore the popularity, revenue, and other metrics of tags on Steam.

SteamTrender showcases:

  • the top 100 popular games across Steam that have garnered between 1,000 to 10,000 reviews in the past two months;
  • the most popular games with specific tags. Up to ten tags can be selected at once, and an equal number can be excluded from the analysis. The SteamTrender website displays a top 100 games list, but it also allows users to download a .csv file of the top 1000 games;
  • the number of games released on Steam with selected tags, their revenue, median number of reviews, and median number of game owners;
  • trends in selected tags over a five-year period leading up to the specified year for analysis.

As explained by the creators of SteamTrender, the service pulls data directly from Steam at the beginning of each month but excludes demos, prologues, and free-to-play projects from its statistics. It estimates game revenue using the Boxleiter method.

SteamTrender is available for free and is currently in beta testing.
