The social network for the first time told how much game teams earn on it.
Last night, on December 25, the Vedomosti publication, with reference to an unnamed representative of VKontakte, reported that the social network paid 2 billion rubles to game developers in 2018. Based on the average annual dollar exchange rate, this is approximately $31.8 million.
We are talking about the total payment to developers of social, mobile, and HTML5 projects. Considering that the share of developers from sales on the platform is 55%, it can be assumed that the gaming expenses of users of the social network for 2018 amounted to 3.6 billion rubles or $ 57.3 million.
The earnings of one of the largest social platforms in the CIS from games are comparable to the annual revenue of the mobile game Empires & Puzzles: RPG Quest from one Russian market. The game by Finnish developers from Small Giant Games earned more than $20 million in Russia in 2018.
By the way, the total game downloads from VKontakte this year amounted to 175 million.
