The leading game publishers from the App Store earn on average 48% more than their counterparts in Google Play. This follows from their financial results for the first quarter.
According to Sensor Tower, the first hundred top game publishers in the App Store and Google Play earned a total of $114.5 million in the first quarter of the year. Revenues were distributed as follows: $70.3 million for iOS games, $48 million for Android games.
Thus, the App Store remains the leading mobile platform in terms of user spending on applications.
Sensor Tower also provides statistics on the top 100 of all publishers, gaming and non-gaming:
- The revenue of the first hundred iOS publishers for the first quarter amounted to $83.8 million. Publishers from Google Play at the same time earned $51 million. Total revenue reached $130.4 million.
- That is, one hundred publishers from the App Store earn 64% more in total than those in Google Play.
- Overall, the total revenue of app publishers has been steadily growing over the past five years. During this time, the revenue of publishers from the top 100 App Store has grown by 291%. In Google Play, the growth was 289%.
