Finnish startup Traplight has raised $1.4 million to launch its own first project – the social racer Big Bang Racing.
Among the investors is the venture capital fund Initial Capital, which previously invested in Supercell and Glu Mobile. According to the head of the fund, the company is confident that the Finnish team will be able to stand out from the competition.
The total amount of investments received by the studio reached $1.9 million. A year ago, the team raised $500,000 at the initial funding stage.
The studio’s initial project, the Big Bang Racing game, will be released in 2016. At the moment, it is in a trial run in the Philippine and Singapore App Store. Recall that at the initial stages of development, the game was called What on Earth!. A feature of the project, according to the authors, is the gameplay. Users can independently create game levels and at the same time communicate with each other.
Taplight Games was founded in 2010. Studio employees previously worked at Supercell, RedLynx, as well as at Disney, Sega and LucasArts.
