Despite the good results of the Broken Sword 5 Kickstarter campaign, the amount collected covered only 25% of the money spent on development.

Noirin Carmody, the owner and COO of Revolution Software, told about this at the Develop Live conference held on October 2 in Edinburgh.

The company paid for most of the development (more than 75%) out of its own pocket. Revolution Software had significant reserves accumulated from digital sales of other studio games.

In order to finish the game, Revolution also had to go to a bank overdraft. The money from the contracts for the publication of the game on the Playstation Vita, paid by Sony as an advance, also helped.

So there is nothing surprising in the fact that Noirin, speaking about Kickstarter, first of all, speaks of it as an excellent “means of communication” with the user.

Recall that in September 2012, the fifth part of the famous adventure series scored $ 771 thousand. About 14 thousand people have invested in the project.
