The credit company LendEDU has studied in detail the habits and expenses of players in the Fortnite freeplay battle royale. Two-thirds of respondents buy in-game content. At the same time, the average Fortnite fan has already spent $84.7 in the game since the beginning of this year.

In the course of the study, LendEDU interviewed 1,000 people from the United States, each of whom spends 6 to 10 hours a week at Fortnite.

LendEDU found out that:

  • 69% of Fortnite players buy paid content;
  • 36.7% called Fortnite a game where they spent money for the first time;
  • about 20% of the content buyers do not know that the purchased items do not give them a gaming advantage.

Among the types of content available for money, new models and costumes for characters are leading — they account for 59% of all purchases. In addition, approximately 25% of players will also donate money to streamers who broadcast Fortnite gameplay on the Twitch platform.
