Tokyo-based startup TransLimit received 300 million yen or about $2.8 million. Line Ventures, United, East Ventures, Skyland Ventures, and Genuine Startups acted as investors.
Line Ventures is a subsidiary of LINE. It was created to manage an investment fund called “Line Game Global Gateway” with a capital of $10 million. Line Ventures was founded in August 2014, and the first project in which the company invested was the Gumi game studio.
Translimit, whose Brainwars PvP puzzle has collected 3 million downloads since launch, plans to create a game in collaboration with LINE, whose users will register via messenger.
Investments in a startup, apparently, are part of the stated LINE program. Recall that the popular Japanese messenger is going to take a significant place in the global gaming market.
