The authors of Clash Royale invested $ 2.9 million in a developer from Helsinki – Shipyard Games. The latter specializes in geolocation games.

The studio does not have a single finished project yet. The first one is expected in early 2018.

Shipyard Games itself turned 2 months old in April.

The investment is explained by the fact that Supercell knows the team members well.

Shipyard Games is headed by Andreas Wedenberg, co-founder of the Grey Area studio, which was celebrated in 2011 with the Shadow Cities mobile game project. One of the investors of the game at that time was the current CEO of Supercell Ilkka Panaanen (Ilkka Panaanen).

Shadow Cities was a geolocation MMO in which players battled for supremacy with each other on a real map. The game tracked the players’ location by GPS. The project was warmly received by the press, headed the local box office tops (for example, Finland and the Netherlands). It is currently closed.

What will be the first game of Shipyard Games is unknown. It is only reported that it is designed for a wide audience.
