The authors of Angry Birds reported on the company’s financial results for the first half of 2016. For six months, the revenues of the “bird” giant amounted to €76.4 million (~ $86 million).
Rovio notes that this is €10.3 million ($11.6 million) more than a year earlier for the same period. The company’s operating profit (profit from sales before interest and taxes) also increased to €5.7 million. A year ago, Rovio finished the first half of the year with a minus of €10.2 million.
As far as can be understood from the company’s press release, the main driver of growth was the growth of the gaming business. Its revenues in the first half of 2016 increased by 24% compared to the same for the first half of last year.
Moreover, Rovio is pleased with the financial results of “Angry Birds in Cinema”, whose worldwide box office amounted to $347 million, and has started work on the second part.
For the first time in our memory, Rovio announces financial results not for the year, but for the first six months of this year.
