Rovio’s revenues for the 2nd quarter of this year increased by 94% to €86.2 million due to good sales of the Angry Birds franchise and the success of the full-length cartoon Angry Birds Movie.
This is reported in the company’s quarterly report.
The revenue of the gaming division increased by 65% and amounted to €61.3 million. The growth is due to a 30% increase in the number of monthly paying users and a 51% increase in revenue from each user.
In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Rovio launched two new action games, Battle Bay and a new part of the Angry Birds Evolution franchise, aimed at a more adult audience.
Rovi CEO Kati Levoranta called the launch of Battle Bay and Angry Birds Evolution “the strongest in the history of Rovio in terms of KPI and ARPDAU.”
At the same time, revenue from the Angry Birds brand increased by 242.6% to €24.9 million.
