Electronic Arts could pay about $1 million to one of the influencers who promoted Apex Legends at the start.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to one of its sources.
The payment to 27-year-old Tyler Blevins, also known as Ninja, was made for the fact that he announced the game on his Twitter feed, and then streamed Apex Legends on his Twitch channel with a 13 million audience.
Representatives of EA and Ninja declined to comment to Reuters on the information received. However, another popular streamer, Shroud, whose audience totals 6 million viewers, also admitted to the publication that Electronic Arts paid him for streams. He did not disclose the details of the transaction.
A little earlier, Drew McCoy, the lead producer of Respawn, stated that both the publisher and the developer worked closely with the streamers.
We really wanted that on this day, no one interested in games could escape from the news about Apex. We wanted to make it look like the launch is happening literally everywhere (...) We had streamers from all over Europe, Latin America, North America, Korea, Japan so that we could get the message across to everyone so that people could see the game.
