Nordisk Film continues to invest in video games. The Danish film company has invested $ 5 million in the local studio Reto-Moto, known for the free-play MMO shooter Heroes & Generals.
As a result, Nordisk Film became a minority shareholder of the company, and Executive Director Mikkel Weider and senior partner Martin Walfisz joined the board of directors of Reto-Moto.
Reto-Moto CEO Jean-Marc Broyer said that the investment will go to the development and support of their flagship project Heroes & Generals, which has more than 12 million registered players to date.
Reto-Moto was founded in 2008 by people from Zyrinx and Lemon studios, who previously participated in the creation of IO Interactive, famous for the Hitman game series.
The gaming industry is an important part of Nordisk Film’s business. This year, the company invested $10 million in the developer of the Just Cause and Mad Max action games Avalanche studio, and also opened a business incubator for VR projects together with the Japanese publisher gumi inc.
