Nexon Gaming Corporation reported earnings for the 4th quarter of 2017 and the whole year. The company’s revenue and profit increased in comparison with 2016, and the 4th quarter turned out to be a record successful financial performance.
Nexon’s financial performance in 2017:
- The company’s revenues are $2.2 billion (+28% compared to last year)
- Operating profit: $825 million (+123%)
- Net profit of $518 million (+182%)
The Chinese market generated almost half (49%) of the company’s revenue for the year. Most of them came from the online brawler Dungeon & Fighter and the role-playing MMO franchise Maple Story.
The second most important region for the company’s revenue was South Korea, accounting for 34% of Nexon’s revenue in 2017.

The 4th quarter of 2017 was the most productive for Nexon in the company’s history.
Results of the 4th quarter of 2017:
- Revenue: $484 million (+22% compared to Q4 2016)
- Operating profit: $108 million (+61%)
In the last quarter of 2017, Nexon’s revenues grew the most in the North American region — they added 53%.
The reason for this growth in the company called the purchase of the developer of interactive novels Pixelberry Studios, which Nexon acquired in November.
Also in the 4th quarter, Nexon’s revenues in China increased by 48% due to a series of gaming events in Dungeon &Fighter.
Nexon’s revenues in South Korea increased by 13% due to the launch of the new mobile role-playing game OVERHIT and revenue from existing mobile role-playing titles AxE and Dark Avenger 3.
In 2018, Nexon plans to launch 6 new titles on PC and 13 new mobile games.
