In the second fiscal quarter of 2014, which ended for Facebook on June 30, Mark Zuckerberg’s company earned $2.9 billion. Mobile advertising has become one of the main drivers of growth.
It accounted for 62% of all the money earned by Facebook from advertising.
And there is nothing surprising here, considering that out of 829 million monthly active users of the social network, 654 million are mobile.
That’s why 57% of the company’s revenue is provided by mobile advertising.
True, Facebook does not specify how much of this amount falls on games, but most likely most of it. Why?
Firstly, games are responsible for both the App Store and Google Play for 40%-50% of all downloads. It is logical to assume that the share of games in the distribution of budgets for promotions is about the same, if not more, given the high competition in the gaming segment.
Secondly, our colleagues from Pocket Gamer claim that at the moment Facebook accounts for more than a third of all the money spent in North America and Europe on the promotion of mobile games.
