Fighting game in the Marvel universe has become the fastest-earning Kabam game, “raising” more than $100 million in 7 months.
Kabam CEO Kevin Chou told about this during the ChinaJoy 2015 conference in Shanghai, – writes VentureBeat.
Recall that the worldwide release of the project took place on iOS in October 2014, and on Google Play – a month later. The game was a response to the commercial success of the mobile fighting game Injustice from Warner Bros., which appeared in stores in March 2013.
It is important that Kabam works much more closely with Marvel than the Warners work with DC. Before each premiere of the film in the Marvel universe, Chow’s company releases a significant update for the Contest of Champions, including adding new heroes and updating the icon, stylizing it for the film. For example, now on the icon of the game there is an Ant-Man and his antagonist from the picture of the same name, which was released at the end of June.
Marvel: Contest of Champions is the fifth Kabam project that has raised $100 million or more. Previously, Kabam games such as Kingdoms of Camelot, The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth and Fast & Furious 6: The Game also collected this amount.
