The publishing firm Take-Two Interactive sees an opportunity to increase the number of microtransactions in the games it publishes.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnik promised not to flood future titles with additional costs, but admitted that the company has ideas for implementing additional IAPs.
He also noted that “it is impossible to give things away for free all the time, since there is no business model in this.”
As an example, Zelnik cited GTA V and GTA Online, which continues to bring Take-Two income for more than 4 years.
All content in GTA Online is available for free, but players can purchase game items for real money if they don’t want to waste time earning virtual currency.
Zelnik added that there is space to work on improving the monetization of each user without compromising ethics and creativity in games.
