The analytical company Superdata told about this in its final report for August.

The company’s specialists also revealed how much each segment of the digital gaming market earned.

  • Console game sales totaled $399 (16% more than a year earlier).
  • Sales of paid PC games reached $401 million (an increase of 21%).
  • Sales of mobile games have crossed the $3.04 billion mark (16% growth).
  • Sales of fritupley MMOs amounted to $1.41 billion (an increase of 8%).
  • Sales of paid MMO were marked at $226 million (a drop of 4%).
  • Sales of social games fell to $604 million (a 2% drop).

Superdata also noted that the genre of collectible card games is growing well now. His earnings last year amounted to $1.3 billion. Over the next two years, Superdata expects this figure to increase by 8%.

The main attention in the report was paid by analysts to No Man’s Sky, which earned an impressive $78 million in the first month, and Pokémon GO, which managed to earn even more significant $204 million in the second month of release.

But against the background of Overwatch earnings in China, these figures may not seem very serious. NetEase, the Chinese publisher of the game, earned $382 million on it (not taking into account Blizzard payments). 40% of all Overwatch downloads in August were in China.
