The Japanese corporation Bandai Namco officially closed the 2017 fiscal year (ended March 31 of this year). The company ended the reporting period on the rise — both total revenues and revenue of the Network Entertainment segment, which includes video games, increased.
Bandai Namco games and interactive entertainment generated ¥406 billion ($3.7 billion) last year, which is 14.2% higher than the result for 2016.
The operating profit of the Network Entertainment segment for the year increased by 24.6%, reaching ¥52.37 billion ($480 million).
The growth of Bandai Namco’s gaming sector in the past has been driven by a line of strong releases. The company has released titles such as Tekken 7, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom and Project Cars 2.
Bandai Namco does not say exactly how its gaming revenue is distributed between platforms. But, according to the DataMagic analytical platform, the company’s mobile games generate about $120 million per month.
