The French company Gameloft reported on finances for the previous year. Due to a series of layoffs, the company’s revenues have grown.

In 2015, the management of Gameloft consistently closed 10 studios. According to the company’s CEO Michel Guillemot, the reduction affected “almost 20% of employees” — 850 people.

The layoffs, according to management, have become part of an extensive cost-cutting strategy. Judging by the final figures, the policy has borne fruit: Gameloft sales by the end of the fiscal year amounted to $287.5 million. This is 13% more than in 2014.

Gross income also increased and reached $244.1 million. For comparison, at the end of last year, this amount was $210.1 million.

Thanks to the measures taken, Gameloft is entering a phase of “profit growth”, the management claims. Perhaps the new strategy will help the company to get away from Vivendi’s offer. Recall that in February it became known that this corporation intends to acquire Gameloft at a price of € 6 per share. The offer came after Vivendi brought its stake in Gameloft to 30%. If the deal goes through, Vivendi will make an “unfriendly purchase”, since the Guillemot family, which owns the mobile publishing house, opposes it.
