In the first half of 2016, there were absolutely $18.6 billion worth of mergers and acquisitions in the gaming industry.

This is a record amount for the segment within a six-month period, – the investment company Digital Capital reports.

The largest deals, of course, were the purchase of 84.3% of Supercell by a Chinese company for $8.6 billion and the acquisition of King by Activision Blizzard for $5.9 billion (this deal was closed only in the first half of this year). But there were other major events. For example, another Chinese company, CMGE, was acquired by car parts manufacturers for $ 1 billion, and Vivendi took over Gameloft, whose total value at the time of the takeover was about $ 770 million.

At least one big takeover is also expected in the next half of the year. We are talking about the possible purchase of Playtika for the amount of $ 3.4-$4.3 billion.
