Dota 2 Workshop participants complained about the deterioration of working conditions in the project. They posted a letter describing the situation on Reddit.

Dota 2 Workshop contains user-created items and modifications that other gamers can subscribe to and add them to their game. The terms of remuneration for this content are determined by Valve.

Until 2016, the authors were guaranteed to receive 25% of the profit from their works included in the Battle Pass — a tournament pass, the owner of which gets access to special tests, achievements and awards for their performance.

Sales of Battle Pass content are no longer shared between artists, only those whose content is purchased by players receive profit. As a result, the income of Dota 2 Workshop members fell to 6%, and it became unprofitable to continue working on such conditions.

The artists added that their colleagues from the Counter Strike: Global Offensive workshop work according to the old system and earn more than they do. In this regard, over the past six months, Dota 2 Workshop participants have been leaving. Valve, in turn, does not respond in any way to information about current problems.
