The mobile platform for esports games Skillz reported doubling its revenue to $100 million over the past 8 months.

Skillz turns any mobile game for iOS and Android into a competition where you can measure your gaming skills with friends or strangers.

The platform allows you to play for money, prizes or points, as well as hold tournaments among Skillz users.

It took the company more than 2.5 years to reach $50 million in revenue. But over the past 8 months, Skillz has doubled the figure.

Along with revenue, the number of users of the platform has also grown. Since the summer of 2016, Skillz’s audience has grown by 32% to 11.9 million.

Skillz CEO Andrew Paradise compared the success in popularizing competitions between fans of casual mobile games with the advent of television and the founding of the American National Football League.

“You see more and more casual games adding a competitive aspect. The players compete at a high level, and they look at it,” Paradise said.

Currently, Skillz supports projects of more than 3 thousand game studios.
