Formally, by the end of August 2019, Playrix, based in Russia, entered the world’s top three leaders in earnings from mobile games. Only Tencent and NetEase are ahead.

Alexander Derkach, head of marketing at Playrix, was the first to report this in his Facebook feed.

In August 2019, according to App Annie, in terms of revenue from two platforms, we are the third in the world among mobile gaming companies. SuperCell — fourth, King — fifth.

He also noted that this says a lot about how the company fulfills its goals. In 2018, the goal was to enter the top 3, which would mean, among other things, bypassing King.

I remember the condescending smiles of partners and advertising platforms when we told them about our plans — at that time King was twice as big as us. I remember at one of the events of the CMO of another gaming company saying that he knows well about our goals, but they will never be achieved, because unfortunately the platforms themselves are lining up for a feature and such a handicap will never be interrupted by any paid purchase. Well, it's good when there are those who don't believe in you.

Editorial Office App2Top.ru contacted App Annie. The analytical company confirmed the position of Playrix, but asked to take into account the context of the situation.

Parent companies consist of divisions and, accordingly, App Annie issues reports at this level. If you look from this perspective, then in August Playrix was the sixth company in the world by revenue. However, if you break all the companies in the top into divisions, then Playrix will be the third company in the world by revenue.

Recall that King is a division of Activision Blizzard.
