According to a survey among users playing Spells of Genesis, a mobile freeplay with blockchain—based monetization, only 44% of players bought or sold game items through the blockchain. Others consider this technology too difficult to understand or do not have enough money.

Blockchain games are a relatively new direction in the industry, so any statistics about the behavior of players are valuable. The Swiss service BitCrystals has published the results of a survey of 513 players in Spells of Genesis. Each respondent was rewarded with ten bitcrystals (about $3) for participating in the survey.

The survey showed that the main audience of the blockchain game is men (91%), the majority aged 25-44 years.

25% of respondents live in the USA, 12% — in Japan, 5% — in Russia.

Blockchain technology is used in Spells of Genesis to access an online wallet, but the game can be played without using it – this is how 56% of users who have not made a single financial transaction in the game over the past 12 months acted.

A small segment of enthusiastic fans of the game is primarily interested in buying/selling game items. 27% of respondents bought more than 10 items, and 19% also spent more than $500 on it.

The survey results show that there is a significant gap between the two main groups of players (playing for free and spending large amounts).Full data on user responses are available on the BitCrystals website, you need to register to receive them.
