Gaming revenues of the 25 largest public companies in the world in the 1st half of 2017 increased by 20% to $41.1 billion compared to the first half of 2016.

Of this amount, $31.4 billion in revenue accounted for the top 10 companies in the rating. The revenues of this group increased by 24% compared to last year.

Revenue from mobile games from the top ten public companies also increased, but slightly from 40% to 42%.

Tencent has once again become the largest gaming company in the world with revenues of $7.4 billion, which is 50% higher than revenue for the 1st half of 2016.

Sony grew by 25% year-on-year, taking 2nd place with revenue of $4.3 billion.

Activision Blizzard closed the top three, earning $3.4 billion — 11% higher than last year’s result.

According to the results of the half—year, two new companies entered the top 25 public gaming companies – the Korean mobile developer NetMarble and the Chinese MMO operator PerfectWorld.

NetEase earned $1 billion, and PerfectWorld’s revenues totaled $442 million for the first half of the year.

The biggest drop in revenue was observed at GungHo Entertainment, whose revenue for the year decreased by 20%.

Sega and Zynga dropped out of the rating.
