Moonlighter and Frostpunk turned out to have excellent sales. This allowed their publisher — Polish 11 bit Studios — to abandon investment restrictions. This was stated by its director of publication Pavel Feldman (Paweł Feldman).

Moonlighter According to GamesIndustry, previously 11 bit Studios had a financial limit.

The company could not afford to spend more than 450 thousand euros on an external project. However, over the past year, the situation has changed for the better.

According to Feldman, there are two main reasons for this.

The first is the success of the Moonlighter role—playing action. The development of the Spanish Digital Sun sold 500 thousand copies in ten months. It was published on all major “big” platforms — PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. At the last one, she performed particularly well.

The second reason for the company’s growth is the excellent performance of its own projects. During the year of sales, the Frostpunk construction sim, released in April 2018, not only garnered high press ratings (84% on Metacritic), but also sold 1.4 million copies.

Thanks to these games, 11 bit Studios has no budget restrictions anymore. However, as Feldman immediately clarifies, this does not mean that the company will publish 20-30 projects a year. The publisher plans to release no more than four projects in 12 months that correspond to the company’s philosophy.
