A new opportunity for monetization of frituplay will appear on the Google platform. Mobile publisher Multiscription has announced the Android application Unleashd. This is a catalog of free-to-play games distributed by subscription.

There will be no intrusive advertising in the games from Unleashd (this application is similar to the subscription service Google Play Pass). But a subscription can complement such types of monetization as IAP and rewarded videos.

At the same time, all games in the catalog will provide subscribers with exclusive content and other in-game benefits. Multiscription partners will have to implement such content into their games along with the Unleashd SDK.

According to VentureBeat, 50% of subscription revenue goes to the publisher in Unleashd. The revenue itself is generated in two ways:

  • Firstly, Multiscription charges additional funds every month as a conversion bonus. That is, the service pays the publisher a dollar for each subscriber attracted by the game. Payments will not stop until the player is signed;
  • The remaining share — it’s called Revenue Share (EBRS) — is based on engagement. It is distributed among publishers according to the amount of time the user spent playing a particular product. If a player has spent 70 minutes in one publisher’s game and 30 minutes in another’s game in a month, then the first publisher receives 70% of EBRS, and the second — 30%.

Due to this business model, Multiscription hopes to “reduce the gap between premium and free-to-play games”, as well as provide publishers with a steady income.

The service will be launched this year. The subscription price for Unleashd is still unknown.

Let’s add that the Danish Multiscription was founded by industry veterans Mikkelson and Martin Wolfitz (Mikkelson & Martin Walfisz). The latter is a partner of Nordisk Film, which invests in games, and a member of the board of directors of Avalanche, Raw Fury, Star Stable and other studios.
