According to Niko Partners, there are 119 million mobile players in Asia, while the audience of PC games is “only” 97 million people.

The analytical firm estimated that the volume of the Southeast Asian mobile market in 2014 will amount to $784.4 million – mainly due to revenue growth in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

The mobile market of Southeast Asia is “catching up” with the Chinese market in terms of volume, analysts from Niko Partners are sure. They are convinced that now is the time to launch a mobile game in the region.

“The games market in Southeast Asia is often compared to the Chinese one, and we believe that it is only a couple of years behind the Chinese one,” said Lisa Cosmas Hanson, managing partner at Niko Partners. – Players in the region prefer MOBA, shooters and mobile games – just like in China. But at the same time, Chinese users tend to play more profitable MMORPGs, while Asian players do not “understand” them yet.

GAMASUTRAThe data were obtained on the basis of a survey conducted among 10,000 respondents, mostly “hardcore” male players.
