American users who play on smartphones and tablets spend 57% more time in mobile games than two years ago, NPD Group analysts found

Мобильные геймеры стали играть в два раза больше

If in 2012 they, on average, played about 80 minutes a day, then in 2014 the number of minutes increased to almost 134 minutes.

However, it is quite natural that the number of sessions per day seriously jumps depending on the age group. Teenagers (up to 12 years old) spend the most minutes on each session, then this indicator drops.

It is curious that they (more precisely, the group from 2 to 12 years old) account for one of the peak values for the average amounts spent on new games and IAP. Their spending is second only to that of the 25-44-year-old age group.

Most gamers also play on other platforms. However, every fifth player plays only on mobile devices.

NPD Group specialists call tablets the central gaming mobile devices. Moreover, it is those who play with “tablets” who are more likely buyers, and they spend more.

The company collected all the data obtained during a survey of more than five thousand Americans aged 2 years and older (all those under the age of 18 were helped by their parents) in November-December last year.
