In the near future, when launching a Facebook application on Apple tablets, users will see a sidebar on the right with a game section (a list of their games, videos of popular applications), a list of the most popular stories and popular videos.
Dan Morris, a representative of the social network in North America, told VentureBeat that “we expect this (innovation) to give a big boost to games.”
There will definitely not be a similar panel on smartphones in the near future.
“We see that tablets are used mainly for games. For this reason, it made sense to fundamentally change the Facebook app for iPad,” Morris explains.
Another reason why it was decided to add a panel with a feature was the desire to slightly improve the findability of applications, which Facebook recognizes as a problem.
“Findability is a problem today, and we certainly heard about it at the last E3,” Morris added.
In the future, ads will also be running on the sidebar.
