The developers of games for the VKontakte social network have a new way of monetization – rewarded video.

Recall that we are talking about video advertising, for viewing which the user receives various bonuses in the game. It can be currency, any game items or consumables. What exactly to give for viewing is decided by the developer.

This type of monetization is especially popular in mobile, where it is de facto one of the mandatory tools for working with the audience. In some mobile games, the main game loop (core loop) is even built on the rewarded video.

Of all the formats of advertising and monetization of applications, this format is called the most preferred by the majority of users. They like to benefit from watching videos in their favorite product. Few are willing to pay money in the game or tolerate intrusive banners.

But the reason for the loyal attitude to such monetization on the part of the audience is not only that it makes it possible to get something in the game for free. It is well treated, among other things, due to the fact that it is called by the user himself. It does not appear suddenly, blocking half the screen, does not flash before your eyes.

The launch of rewarded advertising in VKontakte took place within the framework of an income-sharing partner program, the purpose of which is “to support developers and give them the opportunity to earn from video ads in applications or games” of the social network.

The new format in VKontakte is available to developers together with pre-roll, another video advertising format, the essence of which is to demonstrate an advertising video before launching the content in demand by the user.
