In the second quarter, Zynga’s business on Facebook, compared with the results of the first fiscal quarter of 2012, declined. In this regard, the company’s executive director Mark Pincus hastened to state that Zynga is considering the mobile and advertising markets as opportunities for further development. Moreover, it is quite possible that the developer will engage in games aimed at a male audience.

Zynga’s sales in the second quarter amounted to $332 million or $302 million in the so-called “booking” calculation*. This is 10% more than in the second quarter of 2011, but 5% less in the “booking” format than in the first quarter of 2012 (by the way, its “booking” results then amounted to a record $329 million).

Due to this decline, reflecting the deterioration of the company’s position in the Facebook market, a number of innovations on the social platform itself, as well as the results of Draw Something that did not meet expectations, Zynga decided to lower its forecast for 2012. “Booking”, according to company analysts, will bring in $1.15 to $1 for the year, 225 billion, and not in the range of $1,425 – $1.5 billion, as previously predicted.

In the second quarter, Zynga published six games, three of them are mobile: Watching With Friends, Zynga Slots and Zombie Swipeout. It is also expected that the company will launch a large gambling project on the international market in the first half of 2013, although it is still not entirely clear whether it will be mobile or social. In the meantime, Zynga plans to expand its nascent publishing business to the mobile sector as well.

*booking – reflects the amount earned on the sale of certain products in a specific period of time, and revenue, if we are talking about Zynga, may reflect the money received by the company in previous quarters, deferred money.
