Canonical announced Ubuntu for “tablets”, and at the same time told in detail about its revolutionary features.
The main feature of the new OS in the tablet version is as follows: on a “tablet” with Ubuntu, you can simultaneously work in two applications. For example, surf the Internet and immediately conduct a video conference or watch a movie and correspond with someone in a chat.
In addition, when the keyboard and mouse are connected, the tablet is able to provide, according to Canonical, “a full-fledged PC experience.” By this, the developers of the system, first of all, mean the ability to run Windows programs through the standard protocols of Microsoft, Citrix, VMware and Wyse.
The Ubuntu tablet version will support screen diagonals from 6 to 20 inches with PPI from 100 to 450. It “works fine,” Canonical says in a press release, even on entry-level hardware.
You will be able to try the system yourself after the release of its preview version for Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 on February 21.
