The most convenient genre on touch devices after casual games is turn-based strategies. But in the mobile market, he faces two problems at once: a high entry threshold and difficulties with monetization.

The first problem is the complexity of the rules for the average player, which is usual for such projects. In addition, the gameplay itself provides for the constant need to take into account many parameters. This scares the average player away.

On the other hand, the rules of Rage of Bahamut, as well as Funzio and Kabam games are much more complicated. But here the next problem awaits.

In strategies, one of the most important components is balance. Micropayments that give bonuses can easily destroy them. In other words, the f2p scheme, outside of which it is almost impossible to survive in the mobile market today, and on which the projects just mentioned earn, is a very shaky ground for strategic games.

Hunters II
Perhaps this is the reason why there are very, very few of them on the mobile platform.

A year ago, there was practically nothing to choose from. It was possible to download Hunters, the ugly Civilization Revolution and the Battle for Wesnoth already passed through and through.

But the situation is changing. Most recently, RAD, a highly simplified version of XCOM, the Battle of the Bulge wargame, was released on iOS, and just today information appeared that Herocraft is preparing an officially unannounced strategy for World War II.

Strategy & Tactics: World War II
According to our colleagues from PocketTactics, Herocraft developed a mobile version of Hearts of Iron some time ago by order of Paradox.

But for some reason, the Swedish publisher canceled the project. Domestic developers, in turn, decided to finish it and release it, but under a different name.

The game will be released in February-March under the name Strategy & Tactics: World War II. By the way, the other day Herocraft turned 10 years old! Congratulations to the studio on the holiday!

We’ll see how successful each of the new products will be.
