The minimalistic electronic project Super Hexagon, according to its creator Terry Cavanagh, was bought more than 10 thousand times in just three days.

The Super Hexagon game, visually more reminiscent of an ordinary representative of the demo scene than a separate iPhone app, was released on the App Store on September 6. The price for it on the “release sale” was only $0.99.

And on the very first day in the American paid iPhone games chart, she took 24th place. Then she went down in the top: on Sunday, Super Hexagon took only 35th place. At the same time, the iPad version of the game, starting on Friday from the 31st position, last Sunday was already in 13th place.

As a result, already following the results of the first three days after the launch, it sold out in a “circulation” of 10 thousand copies, which was announced to the general public by its author on Reddit yesterday. Considering the cost of the application and the 30% that Apple takes for itself, it can be assumed that Kavanagh earned about $7 thousand for Sunday evening.

According to Terry, he did not expect such success: “I thought that the game would interest a very small number of users, it would turn out to be very niche, but I’m glad I was wrong.”

Super Hexagon for indie developer Terry Kavanagh, known for games such as VVVVVV, At A Distance and Don’t Look Back, the first project on iOS.
