The director of Tetris said that the success of Angry Birds will not last long, unlike the success of the game about the glass and falling cubes.
The Angry Birds game has stormed through the mobile gaming market, but according to Henk Rogers, managing director of The Tetris Company, this is nothing more than a passing hobby.
In his interview with the Industry Gamers news portal, Rogers compared Tetris to sports, saying that the game, developed by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984, will live longer than the Rovio project.
“Since people have been playing Tetris for more than 20 or 25 years, you can already safely say that it will remain popular in the future, that it is already something more, that it is a sport, and not just a hobby. And Angry Birds is a nice project and everyone is still playing it, but they will soon get tired, burn out with it and will play something else.”
According to the latest data, the number of Angry Birds downloads this year alone on all platforms has reached 500 million. The developers of the game, according to insider information, earned about $ 100 million on it.
