Japanese giant Square Enix has opened a new studio in Indonesia. Square Enix Smileworks will focus on developing games for mobile devices.
The studio plans to release games for iOS, Android, Nokia Symbian and Windows Phone mainly for the Southeast Asian market.
Smileworks was founded by Square Enix in collaboration with the Japanese investment company Gotanda Denshi and the Smile-Lab studio, which is part of the holding company of Square Enix itself.
At the moment, the staff of the new company has 23 people. Recruitment of new employees is underway in Surabaya and Jakarta.
