There has been talk about their appearance for a long time, so the appearance of Sony S and Sony P tablets at the IFA exhibition was not a surprise for anyone. But many are concerned about the question: will they be able to compete with Apple’s iPad?
The Sony S tablet, which will go on sale in September, is equipped with a 9.4-inch screen and has a traditional shape. The tablet runs on the Android 3.1 mobile platform (with the possibility of upgrading to version 3.2 in the near future) and uses Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor. The first version of the tablet supports only Wi-Fi, the 3G version will go on sale in November.
The Sony P folding tablet has a more unusual design with two 5.5-inch touchscreen displays, and resembles a shell in shape. Sony, which also runs on Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor and supports Wi-Fi and 3G, will go on sale in November. Both tablets are equipped with front and rear cameras, USB 2.0 ports and SD slots.
In the case of both tablets, Sony has focused on entertainment by updating Sony Entertainment Network services. In addition, Sony announced that the Qriocity brand will soon cease to exist. As a result, users will receive services pre-installed on tablets for unlimited access to movies, music and games.
